Beaches

The closest of several beaches in the area is Ross Beach, 10 minutes by car. The nearest sandy beaches in Renvyle are only 6 miles away.

Glasilaun beach (pictured) is a natural beauty. Always golden sand even in high tide it’s set on a gentle inlet which makes the water very calm. Some fantastic snorkelling of rocks and kelp.

Lettergesh beach is another beauty. Can often have great waves, not big enough for surfing but body boarding heaven with a gentle offshore breeze.

Renvyle beach is also know locally as Whitestrand. Beautiful long strand in low tide it fills completely in high tide. Some lovely rock outcrops for snorkeling around.

Doonloughan beach in Ballyconneely is famous among surfers. Almost always guaranteed waves the swell is best when the wind is offshore.
